The Joy Of Hebel - Chapter 1

When an aerated concrete and a wooden frame love each other very much... sparks fly. Throw in a third party wearing high vis apparel and the ensuing match is taken to another level. This coupling was so spontaneous, they didn't appear to mind that we were watching.

Yes, after losing a couple of days to bad weather, the Hebel team arrived to start getting' it on!

It is amazing material. We chose it because of it's thermal performance, however the speed in which the team can put it up is amazing. They treat it very much like timber, cut it to size with an electric saw, trim it as necessary, then screw it to the metal brackets attached to the frame.

For OCD amongst you, just check that finish! They'll put Selley's No More Gaps out of business!

A big shout out also to the sparkies who haven't been relaxing at a day spa either! Most of upstairs has been done and the cabling fed downstairs to finish.

Apparently we should appreciate what's inside just as much as outside appearances. Whoever said that rubbish obviously didn't have Hebel!

Will get some photo's of the wiring for all those that are interested but LOOK AT THIS STUFF!

Given a good run with weather, bottom floor should be complete within 3 days. Can't wait for Chapter 2 - A Fully Dressed Erection.

Thank you all.... That's a Wrap!

Well, the pipes did call! Last week plumbers came, saw and roughed in! Within no time at all, the lads had packed up and left leaving pipework that would make a urologist proud!

As you can see above, yes that is a duct! No sooner had the plumbers left, the heating/cooling peeps rocked up and put in all the ducting for the heating and cooling system. The chippies were also back to finish up the frame and get the rest of the windows in.

Impressive... most impressive! All we needed to get a great look at where we were at was for the scaffold to come down.... wait...what the?

Just like a beautiful unwrapped gift! Then you get told off for opening presents too early so time to wrap it up and put it back under the tree.

Mmmmmmm Christmas green!

Balcony pillars are in and the whole place is really starting to take shape. Hebel cladding is due to start later this week. We can't believe how fast the project is going... but if that bird taints our new gutter I will hunt it down teach it some respect!

Westside Story... 2nd Story That Is...

What a massive couple of weeks between posts! Sorry if you were hanging on the last post wondering what on earth was going on. What had happened? Where were they? Did the house still stand and who was still left on Masterchef?!

When we last left you, our intrepid builders had laid out the outline of floor number 2. In no time at all the 2nd story was up and about!

It was amazing how quickly it was all happening. Frame was up, windows delivered and warren trusses on site!

The guys, can you still say guys?!...not sure... humans on site are sensational. Not a day went by that there wasn't something new to look at.

An Australian Property Truss..

How long do they leave a trussed house in the open? Glad you asked... Bugger all.

Roof arrives... Roof goes up....

Door Frame arrives... Door frame goes in....

Mmmmm Alfresco... That's fun to say.... Alfresco....

To finish the week they blocked out a few more walls including the garage frame.

By the following Monday we had a beautiful roof!!

It's great to have the house semi protected and in such a small period of time. And for those wondering who the vans belong to, they are the plumbers who arrived to start roughing in!

The pipes, the pipes are calllliiinnngggggg!
