We've been Framed!

The week began with wood and ended in an erection. Who says romance is dead!

The framing lads arrived surprisingly soon after the slab had gone off and before we could say 'Are these guys here to steal the building supplies?' They had already measured and blocked out the ground floor.

Wow! says we, fully thinking that would be it for a while. The very next day, as I did my now extremely creepy, incognito drive by, the site was swarming and dining room wall was up.

Then the wife rings and says i'll see your dining room and raise you a half a house. You're on says I!

Damn! No slippers, pipe, newspaper and KFC waiting for me! Over the next few days the team did an amazing job and by the end of the week First Floor done!

We heard from the guys that they would be on another job for a few days before returning to do the top floor, so it was a mammoth surprise that Glen was there on Saturday marking up the top floor. He said it was to get ahead of next week so they could get stuck in as soon as possible. Looks like the Tim Tams and Snakes we delivered mid week paid off! Who needs beer when Chocolate and lollies are on offer! Obesity 0 - Diabetes 1!

That's an impressive erection!

I may have accidentally fallen up the ladder to peak upstairs but I swear it wasn't intentional.

We are truly stunned and thankful for the progress so far. To think we may have the 2nd story and windows within the next week or so is amazing. The weather has been very kind and as I've been reliably informed... Builders LOVE global warming! Until next time, stay classy and do try the veal.

I think I've got Wood!

Nothing gives you wood better than a delivery truck, and so it was today!

But having said that, lets back track a day or two. With the Slab completed, our invoice arrived along with a small spanner to toss into the works. We found out our choice of Stone Benchtop was no longer available at Porter Davis. Was no biggy except for the fact it features in virtually every room in the house and was one of the first elements we selected! So back to the drawing board on that one!
There are a couple of styles that are very similar in tones (both light and dark) that we will narrow down and select from but was a little downer nonetheless.

Which brings us to today. I gave the creepy, slow drive by a miss thinking that we are all done, all silent for the week.

Then the good lady wife sends me a picture that literally shows us getting wood...

Lots of wood!

The guys also connected up the storm water to our beautiful pits. So what was going to be a very static week has launched into action. Might have to don the Ray Bans and drive by tomorrow to see if my wood is being erected...

...sorry about that.

Is that a slab or are you just happy to see me?

I love the smell of concrete in the morning!! The trucks rolled in from 6 a.m. this morning bringing with them the concrete for the slab and an extremely early awakening for the neighbours!

We arrived just after 8 to see a third of the slab already poured.

We got the impression that there wasn't much we could do to help so we went to McDonalds for breakfast!

Several hotcakes and McMuffins later we came back to check the progress...

Again, after offering our services and support, we were still not able to assist. So off we buggered vowing to return.

Within an hour or so the lads had basically finished. The slab seems enormous, a lot higher than we thought. We may need a monster truck to make it up into the garage. It is really exciting to see it coming out of the ground already. It looks like a bigger house than the one we ordered, but just like a bank error in your favour, we'll keep it until someone forcibly removes it from us or we go to jail.

Next up is the frame. We are not getting too far ahead of ourselves though... just taking things one week at a time.

I'll swap you Topless Tradies for a Slab

What a way to finish off the week! The usual creepy drive by was bought to a halt with a hive of activity at the block. All the materials had arrived for the framing and prep for the slab pour.

Look at all that foam! It looked like we'd ordered enough Lite N Easy meals to last 50 years, but this will be the stones on which we build our digs!

The lads cracked on with amazing progress! The only pause was to semi disrobe and give the neighbours the thrill of watching manly men doing manly things topless.

All that is left to do is rock up early in the A.M. and pour baby pour!

Can't wait to see the slab done and to sit back and think... That's way too small to fit the house on Arrrrggghhhhhhhhhh!

It's Enough To Give You The Pits!

Bring on the ryhming slang, stormwater pits are in!

I pity the fool who isn't enamoured with the site of these beautiful pits!

Very excited about the smallest changes so far. So imagine the euphoria when they disappeared into the ground!

I just want to get in there and clean that lump of mud off goddamn it!!

We heard from the lovely Rob (Slab Supervisor) that the slab should be done by end of weekend. Pour scheduled for Friday, possible Saturday so cue the deck chairs and fruit platter! Will just need somewhere to spit out the pits!

And just cos I love the irony...
